One of my hardest challenges so far is developing a work schedule and sticking with it. It seems that when it is time to sit down and write, I can find a million other things to do. I was actually quite proud of myself this morning, when I sat down promptly at 9 AM and posted a neat little brain-warmer I had written about one of my writing groups.
I try to keep my three blogs on Blogger organized. Political Southern Woman is simply an op-ed column of sorts, dedicated to vocalizing my strong opinions on the American political scene. It seems especially important right now for every citizen journalist to make their voices heard. In my opinion people who do have writing talent should put their work out there, especially if it is meant to influence or inform.
Future Blog of Note (gotta love the title, kind of like how the Rolling Stones never made the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine...I'll probably never have my blog on Blogs of Note) is where I post my articles and writing pieces exclusively. I do not usually post anything very personal as I just like to use it as a portfolio.
Destination Freelance, while still part of my writing career, is more personal because in it I detail the ups and downs of this career I have chosen. I am also a contributor to a blog, McCain/Palin Bloggers, hosted by Lacresha Hayes, right here on Blogger. I am honored to have been invited to participate in such worthy, pertinent dialogue. Sometimes I just have a hard time coming up with enough material to cover my own political blog and the other!
Back to my original point (did I mention that going off on tangents is another bad habit?), I am starting to develop a pretty good schedule, I think. Like I said, I started writing at promptly 9 AM this morning, and I have been more prolific today than I have been in weeks. Oh, I've had the occasional lengthy discourse to write on this, that or the other, but this is one of the first times I have sat down and just gone through all my assigned tasks systematically.
